Teri Quance – Executive Director 

Teri is a Cypress business owner with a background in Journalism/Marketing from UNT and Fine Arts from TSU. The first half of her career was devoted to Marketing and Advertising working with such clients as American Express, Marathon Oil and the Dallas Market Center among many others. Teri has run a successful studio for the past 20 years. She has served as the Certification Chair through PPA, a national trade organization with over 25,000 members. As well, she served on the Founding Board for the IHN a National Non-Profit servicing families temporarily without a home.

Teri’s passion is people… Bringing them together for a common cause. She believes we are all responsible for raising the bar on hope, no matter our situation.

 

Darla Arter – Director of Visual Communications 

Darla graduated Cum Laude from CSU, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Specialization in Visual Communication Design in 2000. She has continued her education in the arts and technology throughout her career at several universities and certification programs such as Art Center College of Design, C.S.U.N, U.C.L.A, Lone Star Kingwood College, and Texas School of Photography. She has won many awards throughout her career and her designs have been published in numerous magazines and newspapers in Los Angeles and Houston.

In Los Angeles, Darla ran a successful business called Wallscapes, designing and installing environmental graphics in hospitals, LAX Airport, LA Zoo, restaurants, model homes, and businesses. Upon moving to Texas, she continued to broaden her range of creative leadership as Art Director for a major real estate publishing house and as senior graphic designer and consultant to the Advancement Office creative team for St. Thomas High School in Houston. In 2008, she joined Quance Design & Photography as Senior Graphic Designer and all-around creative problem solver. Finding fulfillment in the non-profit sector, Darla joined Celebrating Soul as Marketing Director and now, at Deep Cypress Alliance, as Director of Visual Communications. Darla feels strongly that the best thing about working with mission-driven organizations like CS and DCA is that you can look back and say without hesitation that you devoted your time and energy to something that truly mattered.

 

Mike Gill – Director of Accounting

Mike was born and raised in Port Clinton, Ohio, later moving to Texas in 1985. He began his post-college career working with Gulf States Utilities in Baton Rouge and Beaumont. Mike then began a long career with Compaq and Hewlett-Packard where he held many executive financial roles leading and supporting the channel and field sales organizations, an E-Commerce start-up division, corporate and regional financial reporting and analysis teams, and the mobile products organization. After twenty-seven years, Mike retired from Hewlett Packard and took a more entrepreneurial path by opening and managing two retail franchise stores in Hawaii as well as investing in some local real estate opportunities.

In 2016, Mike started supporting the Deep Cypress Alliance organization with accounting and forecast support. Mike attended Mississippi State University where he received a B.S. in finance. He then attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston where he received an MBA in finance and marketing.

Mike and his wife Cynthia have been married for 33 years and have two grown children: Matthew, who lives in Cypress, and Audrey, who lives in Atlanta. Mike and Cynthia have resided in Cypress since 2002 and have been active supporters of Cypress United Methodist Church, Hamilton Elementary & Middle School and Cy-Woods High School, as well as community and area activities.
